Dr. Veronicah Ngumbau is a passionate researcher, mentor, innovator, and data management expert with more than 5 years of experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating research and interventions aimed at informing policy and livelihood transformation. Dr. Ngumbau holds a Ph.D. and MSc. in Botany both from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) (2020), and a BSc. Biology (2013) from the University of Nairobi (UoN). She has authored and co-authored more than 15 peer-reviewed journal articles (Research Gate). In addition, she has won an excellent graduate award from the University of Chinese Academy of Science (UCAS) year 2020.
Currently, she is a Senior Research Scientist and head of the training and mentorship section at the National Museums of Kenya, where she manages, teaches, fundraises, and does research on plants. Presently, she is working with the Mijikenda communities to combat threats and Climate change affecting the diverse relicts of coastal Kenya through nature-based solutions. She is a member of the East Africa Plant Red List Authority (EAPRLA) therefore, she is actively involved in plant species assessment.
