Dr. Freda Nkirote M’Mbogori is a prominent Kenyan archaeologist renowned for her exceptional leadership and substantial international contributions. Currently, she is a Senior Research Scientist in the Earth Science Department at the National Museums of Kenya. With a distinguished academic background, she earned her PhD in Archaeology from the University of Paris (France), a Master's degree in Archaeology from the University of Bergen (Norway), a Bachelor's degree in Archaeology from the University of Nairobi (Kenya), a Postgraduate Diploma in Museum Studies from University College London (United Kingdom), and a Field Research Methods Certificate from Harvard University (United States of America).

In addition to her academic and research accomplishments, Dr. M’Mbogori is deeply committed to raising awareness about cultural heritage. She has orchestrated workshops of significant scientific importance, engaging cultural stakeholders, including County Executives and Members of County Assemblies responsible for culture in Kenya. Her unwavering dedication to promoting initiatives has been well documented in various media sources and research publications including traditional pottery making in Tharaka, Tigania, and Ishiara which earned her recognition in Kenya’s national media.

Dr. M’Mbogori is a highly productive author with publications from esteemed institutions such as Cambridge and Oxford University Press. Her research findings have been featured in book chapters and peer-reviewed journals. Dr. M’Mbogori's extensive international exposure and diverse experiences have enabled her to make substantial contributions to the field of archaeology. Her fervor for conserving cultural heritage, groundbreaking research, and leadership in academic and cultural domains establish her as an eminent archaeologist. She was the immediate former President of the Pan-African Archaeological Association and was the first African Director of the British Institute in Eastern Africa (BIEA).
