Susan is a research scientist in mycology at the National Museums of Kenya. She has specialized in the collection, identification, product development, conservation and application of fungi knowledge for the benefit of mankind. She is involved in biodiversity studies to understand the wild diversity of mushrooms and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. She trains and advocates for mushroom cultivation, consumption and commercialization for food and nutritional security.

Susan holds a Master of Science in Mycology from the University of Nairobi, she is currently pursuing a PhD in Mycology at the same university.
